This shower was inspired by one of my brides who is on a tight budget for her wedding. We have been getting creative in every way possible, especially when it comes to the budget. Rather than just registering for the typical china, towels and mixer, I thought it would be a good idea to set up a registry with the bride’s photographer so that guests could contribute gift cards towards the photographer’s fee. Running with the photography idea, I designed her shower around a black and white photography theme.

As the backdrop, I hung ribbon and ripped fabric in strips, and knotted it to create some texture. Since there was a window behind the strips, I used black and white curtains and hung them behind the window. I used tiles to create a film strip base over the top of the silver satin table cloth. The film strip was just enough to bring in the black and white and stick with my theme, but not go too over the top! An over sized engagement ring, some sparkly silver pillows and a vintage camera helped to pull the theme together.

To hang the letters of the backdrop, I pulled film out of the canister (it’s so cheap now that everything has gone digital!) and threaded it through the letters. It worked like a charm to hold the sign up around the champagne punch too!

Since the bride has a sweet tooth the size of Texas, everything at this shower was dessert, dessert, dessert! I tried to stick with sweets that weren’t too colorful – Mini Flourless Chocolate Tortes, Black and White Cookies, Brownies, Crispy Treat Balls, Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Cheesecake Pops.

LOVE IT! SO cute!!
My sister is a photographer and we are doing her bridal shower with a photography theme. I would love to recreate that beautiful BRIDE decoration you made with the large film strip on the glitter pillow… where did you find such a large film strip/how did you create it?
Thanks!
Hi Amy!
The large film strip is actually a picture frame that I bought at Disney World years ago! It just was lucky for me that I’m bad about throwing things away and still had it! I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help!
Good Luck!!
