Amanda + Lucas at Southall Eden – 9.24.11

Amanda and Lucas are one of the sweetest couples I’ve met – it’s so apparent how much they outright adore each other.  They were married on what was supposed to be a beautiful fall Saturday in September at the idyllic Southall Eden.  The overall style was classic country, farm wedding.  Neutral taupe linens with burlap runners, pops of light blue and yellow rounded out the palette.  The bridesmaids wore fantastic patterned long dresses from Anthropologie – the most unique bridesmaids dresses I’ve seen so far!  The talented Caprice from The Enchanted Florist provided the flowers, and Shannon, the proprietress of Southall Eden gets the credit for the stunning styling of the reception.  The awesome photographer, Austin Gros, is a friend of the bride and groom – he pulled double duty and shot the wedding AND DJ’d the reception!

Despite the fact that the weather was supposed to be perfect (we cancelled the tent the day before!), we got hit with a surprise shower just as dinner was starting!  We scooped up all of the tables and shifted everything indoors.  As soon as we got all the guests settled, the rain stopped, so we moved everything back outside.  Wouldn’t you know it, not more than five minutes after we moved back outside, the rain started up again!  This time, most of the guests stayed put, stuck their napkin on their head and dug into their dinner!  The rain let up shortly after, and we were rewarded with a beautiful rainbow!

Sloane + Dave at Scarritt Bennett & W.O. Smith

Once again, I’m behind in my blogging!  I have some gorgeous fall weddings to add to the blog – including the one I’m posting about today!  Sloane + Dave were married on a PERFECT fall day, September 10, 2011 (9/10/11) at Scarritt Bennett.  From day one, Sloane knew exactly what she wanted the feel of her wedding to be.  Ok, maybe not from day one – our plan evolved a little bit – but pretty close!

Sloane and Dave’s entire wedding was black and white and chandeliers. Oh yes, and chandeliers.  Lots and lots of chandeliers – over the dance floor, on the invitation, on the menu board, on the tables.  Chandeliers everywhere!

Scarritt Bennett is a gorgeous place to get married – it’s so elegant and classic on it’s own, that it doesn’t take much besides a beautiful bride and a handsome groom to dress it up a bit.  Guests were greeted with a table full of family photos from wedding days past, and were handed a program sealed with a wax ‘L’ imprint.  We created a candlescape on the altar table with glass cylinders of varying heights and widths and that was it for the ceremony.  Sloane was such a radiant bride that any additional decor would have been wasted – all the attention was definitely on her in her fitted strapless Maggie Sottero Rhianna Royale  gown.

Sloane and Dave opted not to see each other before the wedding – which I love!  I totally get the purpose of a first look, but there is just something so special about that moment when a groom sees his bride for the first time as she walks down the aisle that just makes me tear up every time!  Instead, they did have a moment where they met on either side of the church for a quick reassuring hand squeeze, and this adorable photo!

Onward to the party!  Sloane and Dave are huge music fans and the new Mrs. Logue also just so happens to work for Toby Keith’s record label, Show Dog Records – so what better theme to base their big day around than music??  W.O. Smith served as the reception venue (remember them from Chris + Corrie’s wedding last year?) and once again showed me why they are one of my favorite venues.  Aside from being easy to work with, the space itself is stunning – high ceilings, modern lighting and expansive windows make for a dramatic look.

Two black guitars with silver sharpies served as the guest book, and vinyl records with a personal note from Sloane and Dave pulled double duty as table chargers and favors for the guests to take home.

Rather than assigned seating, we placed a variety of cocktail tables, smaller round and square tables and large rounds throughout the lobby and recital hall to provide ample seating to those who wanted to enjoy the band, and those who wanted to be able to hear each other talk.:)  The always amazing Nashville Event Lighting transformed the dance floor with a menagerie of chandeliers that provided a great focal point for the room.

Above all else, Sloane wanted to make sure her reception was fun and that people enjoyed the food at the entertainment.  Bacon and Caviar catering provided a huge spread of BBQ, a Mac and Cheese bar and endless sides – not to mention their home made corn bread with honey butter (I don’t even like corn bread, but managed to eat 4 pieces that night!).  The 80′s cover band, Bueller, had Sloane and Dave’s guests on the dance floor until we had to kick them out!

Congratulations Sloane and Dave (4 months late!;)) – I had so much fun planning your wedding with you and I wish you both the happiest of marriages!  xoxo
